In the past year, health and beauty have started to go hand in hand. Every website, magazine and blogger these days are promoting their own way of achieving ‘wellness’ that will make you glow from the inside out. But, if you hate the taste of kale or a 3-hour cleansing routine just isn’t your style, here are some of the easier ideas on how to get naturally glowing skin this summer.

Up your cleansing game

While we may have said a 3-hour routine is a step too far, the first step in achieving naturally glowing skin is through using more than just a makeup wipe before you collapse into bed.

There are hundreds of different cleansing products available but for a range that’s safe for every skin type, try Liz Earle. Their Cleanse & Polish cleanser is legendary, having won more than 125 awards, and will melt away makeup to leave skin baby soft and sparkling clean.

The sun is not your friend

We’re not saying you should become a vampire and hide from sunlight forever, but the importance of SPF cannot be stated enough. Many people don’t use anything with SPF or think the SPF in their makeup is enough, which dermatologists say just isn’t the case.

Wear a Sun Protection Factor of at least 30 on your face, or higher if you live in a perpetually sunny place. Cover your neck with it too to help keep your skin protected and to keep fine lines at bay. If you want something a little different from the standard thick white sunscreen, try one with a tint to fake your glow until you make it.

Massages aren’t just for your back

You may think we’re crazy when you read about the benefits of facial massage. But if you want naturally glowing skin, pampering your face like you would your body can go a long way!

Thinking logically, just like any other body part it’s important to keep blood pumping around the face and increased blood flow. This also means a boost in collagen production which gives skin its youthful elasticity and glow. You can use a cleansing oil or cream while you do this. Massage them into your face using upwards stroke and focus on your forehead, cheeks and jaw to help get your glow on.

Wash away your troubles

Another idea for naturally glowing skin that may surprise you is by cutting down your shower time. Long, hot showers or baths may seem luxurious, but your face won’t thank you as they can strip the beneficial oils out of your skin and leave you looking more like a steamed ham than a starlet!

Instead, try to have shorter, cooler showers more frequently, and on the occasions you just can’t resist a good soak, make sure you nurture your face with a nourishing oil. Try Cowshed’s for an amazingly fruity facial boost.
